one jeep down the other one maybe

just traded in wifes jeep and now considering mine, this lousy gas mileage is a killer, when is the diesel coming or is my jeep going to be a past memory

Even if and when a diesel comes it won't help your wallet a whole lot. Because of the price disparity between regular unleaded and #2 diesel in the US it would have to be really efficient to make up the different in price. The main reason to want a diesel is low end torque and extended cruising range.

right now in mass its 20 cts difference, have two diesel vehicles already and can tell u when u factor in power, mileage, maintaince, its definately worth the difference, bought the wife a tdi and its gets 48 mpg on highway and total world of difference for a gas version same with truck

As others have said the diesel model wrangler isn't the answer, some diesel cars on the other hand are great, like the tdi mentioned. Wranglers just get downright terrible mileage. Peoples comment to this is " I didn't buy a wrangler for the mileage" which is true for all of us. The problem is there is point where it just becomes rediculous to fill up. Everyone's limit is different. Right now I'm hating the fill ups that are pushing $70. I'm nearing my limit. For others they may put up with it until a fillup costs $100. I always said I would keep this one forever until it was rubbish, now I'm thinking there is no point in having jeep in the garage just sitting. Down the road when I do want to go hit a local trail the fuel alone could run near $100 for any wheeling in the local 100 mile radius. Time will tell.

Good luck with your new purchase.

I wish we were pushing $70.00. Its $90.00 to fil up in Ontario

Repo503 04-06-2011 08:03 PM

Its closer to 40 cents different here

Other than power diesels not really gonna help. Diesel more expensive and gonna require a urea tank to fill up every 10k miles. I think urea like $2.75 a gallon. If it weren't for ride share to work I would have been sold my jeep.

biggy, where are you??
in Windsor i'm still filling up at $70.
not that i'm happy about that. if i had a diesel, i would definitly be home brewing some bio diesel!

I'm in the GTA. $1.29 liter last time I filled up.

Here diesel is 20-30 cents more per gallon. We sold our diesel truck right before it went up.
