Default (one more) backspacing question

Okay

The stock rim is 17" X 7.5" 6.25" bs

Example: Pro Comp is 17" x 9" 4.75 bs

Here is my question

The Pro Comp backspacing is 1.5" more outside, BUT the Pro Comp rim is also 1.5" larger. Where does go this 1.5" extra width? outside or inside

I wanted some pro comps also in that size, but in the end I went with a 17x8
and 4.5''backspace.
Your extra1.5" will be half in and half out according to the shop I had spoken to.
I do not know if this correct 100% though.

If I understand your theory, your wheel will be 1.75" outside, but the rim will be 0.25" larger each side. Therefore the rim will be 1.5" outside the Jeep

with a 17 X 9 rim with 4.75 BS, compared to stock, you'll be have 3.5" more to the outside then stock and be 2" shorter to the inside.

I will be getting my new wheels and tires this week I will post up some pictures. But yes according to my theory (from what I was told)and POTO,that would be correct because that is exactly what the shop told me about the pro comps also.
And that is also why I personally, did not go for them.

4.5 inches of backspacing is 4.5 inches of backspacing. I think you guys are confusing it with offset. A 10" rim with zero offset will have 5" backspacing. If the 10" rim has a negative 1" offset then it will have 4" of backspacing.
