Default Opinions....

So who went from an older 6 cyl Jeep to the new JK and was the older motor more powerful, I've spoken to a few guys at work who had 2 door Jeeps and said that they could actually beat a few vehicles off the line, not that I'm looking to do that but really was the older motor more powerful and so why did DC switch it over??..any comments will be appreciated as I wonder if buying a 2 door '06 would make any sense for those looking for a second or third beater...

Because nothing else used the 4.0, so it didn't make economic sense to keep building it.

??? No, the 4.0 is a decendant of the 4.2 (258 cid), which was earlier a 232 cid (i think that's right). All of these motors were in-line 6 cylinders. I don't know of Ford using an in-line 6 in a Mustang. Are you thinking of the Ford 5.0? It was a 302 cid v-8. Now I'm confused.

You meant 4.6, right? I'm not aware of a 4.0 in a Mustang, although they did use a 4.0 V6 in the Ford Ranger.
