Default Painting Chrome Wheel Caps

Has anyone done this successfully? Is there any special paint you need to use or any special surface prep required?

I painted a few sets of headlight bezels on TJ's and I'll share what I did. First hit it with some scotchbrite to knock down the shine and rough up the surface. Obviously clean it, then hit it with primer, then go over it in black paint.

Another option is always plastidip but I am not a fan of plastidip so I don't recommend it, though many people do.
