Default Painting Novice!

Hey guys. Just got some raw steel PSC flares for my jeep, and want to get into basic automotive painting. I have the compressor for the job, just starting to look now at some spray guns at Home Depot (store card there). Any recommendations for a gun? I know a water-trap is very important.

Any recommendations or walk-thru's for painting? I don't know what primer, paint, or clear coat, or where to begin!

Thanks for any help you may offer

I would stop by a local auto paint store and talk to someone there. They are normally very helpful and you will get compatible products if they all come from the same place. It's possible to buy supplies online cheaper but they don't come with free advise.

I don't know that I would shop at Home Depot for automotive paint equipment.

Yeah, just getting the gun from them ordering from the website, the water trap, too.

It's harder than I thought to find an automotive paint store/booth, autozone carries the stuff but I don't know about the quality.

Guess im just confused of what paint, primer, and clear coat to buy, and why.

Here's the jeep in question, PSC going in soon!Click image for larger version

I would stop by a body shop and ask them where would be a good place to buy supplies, Auto Zone will not have the expert help you need.
