Default Parallel Parking

I could drive in reverse doing 20-25 mph, and back into a spot perfectly with every car I ever owned. If it was at all "possible" to parallel park in a spot, I never failed ... ever. WTF am I doing wrong with my 2010 4dr JK. I have had this Jeep for almost 3 months, and every time I get out to leave, I look back and it is never in the positon I thought it was in before I got out. It is "always" further back than I thought, and "never" parallel to the curb. It is always parked screwy. Even when I use my side mirror and the curb as a guide, it never turns out right.

Are a Jeeps lines off from front to back? Is it wider in the rear than it is in the front? This is really driving me nuts.

I just thought I'd throw this out there for a good laugh, but I am very serious.

Yep, it is. But maybe the problem to align is most about the rear fender flares.

I know what ya talking about, every other vehicle I have owned the fenders were part of the hood/rear quarter - having seperate fenders throws me off also. Thats why I'm adding a lift and bigger tires; I may just drive up and over em to park.

I actually find the Jeep pretty easy to parallel park. There have been a few times when I've had to get out and check the rear just because of the spare tire and hitch ball. It's actually easier to park with the lift and 35s because I can see the edges of the tires in the mirrors. And the turning radius of the Jeep is pretty impressive. I can usually fit into a spot with about 18" total to spare front and rear, sometimes less if I pull an "Austin Powers".

I agree that the wider tires are what seems to make it easier for me. Heh, sometimes i still just pull in and drive over the curb though if there is too much traffic. Its just a formed rock after all, right.

I agree.... I hate when people park vehicles over the lines or not straight. I always back up and get perfectly straight, if needed, but the first few months I was always a little crooked. Took some time to get adjusted!

I've got a 2dr and I've never had this problem.

But is this really a Jeep issue or driver issue?

Can't you people take me serious? Kidding, I knew this would be funny. I am getting some great advice so far ... kill me!

Seriously I think my problems will be over when I get new tires for this thing, which will be soon. Getting some new rims also to change the backspacing too. That should solve the parking problem, I'll be able to see my tires then.

But for now, I think I'll use the following .... back onto the car behind me, and pull up straight.

You guys kill me ....
