Passenger Airbag Shutoff for Child seat?
Hey all,
I was wondering, has anyone put a forward facing carseat in the front of a wrangler?
I want to keep the top off but I have to drive my little one to school every day. The only way I can do that is to put the doors back on and put her carseat in the front.
I checked with the California DMV and it is legal but it looks like it is good to turn off the airbag for the passenger. How can I do that? Pop a fuse? Install a switch?
Any ideas?

It does? Is there any sort of light that shows that? Most vehicles that have that usually have a light that verifies that the airbag is off.

Yeah, there should be a light on the lower dash (under the heater/fan controls if I remember correctly), look for it when you start up the Jeep.

Ya I am not sure about the 08s but my 07 has a sensor and a light will come on below the air controlls on the dash. You can test it just push on the seat a little and see if the light turns on.

My 08 has this. If i sit my laptop bag on the seat, it shuts the airbag off and the light comes on - its down by the hazard switch.

I would also be worried that if it is a car seat, and not a booster, that the process of strapping it down would put enough pressure on the seat to make it think there is something heavy in the seat.
I know when I put our car seats in, I kneel in them and pull the straps as tight as I can so the seat does not move at all.

I had my 3 year old in the front the other day while we were wheeling and the passenger airbag off light, between the emergency flasher button and the ESP off button, was lit the entire time.
