perfect spool???
Ok so last night im driving home and notice a Ford explorer is high centered on a culvert...I go to engage free spool and try to pull it and the bitch was stuck, and to press the out button and feed it out that way....what's a good fix to make sure this crap dosent keep happening??? And no im not buying a synthetic line yet....don't have those kind of dollhairs at the moment lol
No the free spool engaged fine its just I couldn't pull the winch line out by hand because it wad like tangled....but idk how to do the beautiful perfect spool I see so many with lol
You need to unspool the line until you have just 4 or 5 wraps on the drum left. Hook up to another vehicle or strong anchor point and reel in the cable while riding the brakes of your Jeep. I usually have a friend steer while I ensure the cable wraps on the drum neatly with the cable next to the previous wrap. This is done by the friend steering the Jeep so the line is straight.
If you don't wrap the line on with a load, it will sink into the lower wraps and damage the cable and be very hard to unwind.

Your cable "cleaved" it's way into the lower wraps which made it hard to pull out. The easiest way to prevent this from happening is to always pull out as much cable as you can for every pull. You must always leave at least 5 wraps of wire rope on the drum (10 for synthetic).
Besides making it harder for the cable to work its way into other layers (there are none), you will always be using your winch at it's rated capacity - under perfect conditions.
If you always do this, there would be no need to dress your cable under tension. If you plan on only pulling out 45(?) Feet of cable each time you winch, you had better make sure your cable is tight, or plan on having trouble if your cable cleaved in. Also plan on your winch being at up to half it's pulling capacity.

Ok so at work today I pulled our golfcart around and a guy I work with helped me put a 200 pound industrial tire in the back of it and I spooled the winch out till the last layer and hooked up to golfcart and pulled it uphill looks pretty damn good if u ask me...golfcart ways round 900 empty and guy I work with was sitting in it and the tire was on the back and he weighs bout 240 and tire was bout 200 so I think it wad enough weight....im happy with it....didn't "cleave"
