Default Phoenix engines in JK

Found this info today... Looks like engine info was updated yesterday. I'm not sure how trustworthy this site is, but it's a good read.

Update: the Scrambler appears to have been completely dropped; the Wrangler will get the new Phoenix engine but not a four cylinder.
On December 3, 2008, Chrysler confirmed that the Phoenix engine plants in Trenton and Saltillo, Mexico will be the only sources of the Phoenix engine. Early production is scheduled for summer 2009 with “real” production starting in late 2009.

Interesting read. It says the 3.6 V6 puts out 280 hp. and about 6% greater fuel economy.

And if you go here: http://www.allpar.com/mopar/phoenix-engines.html it states that this will be the motor in the Wrangler.

I'd be willing to bet that the 280 hp is at a crazy-high RPM and the torque numbers will probably suck. Just a guess.

It seems I read somewhere torque being 266 lb-ft

Thats more than our current 240

Interesting info. I wonder if they will leave it in current layout for the Wrangler or if the Wrangler and Ram versions will be different than the car versions.... I think they will probably be a little different.

I figure this engine would put the power range around 3k. Even cars over in germany rarely reach 11k rpm.
