Going to try putting on my new hood decal from pixel decals and was wondering if anyone had any helpful tips for the install....i'd hate to ruin a $70 decal

I do a soapy water mix in a sprayer. Then spray both the surface where I want the decal to go on and sticky side of the decal. That helps so you can move the decal around. Don't press down til you're sure of your decal placement. Then use a squeegee or credit card to push the bubbles and water starting from the middle towards the edges. A microfiber cloth to wipe excess soap and water. Also a hair dryer or heat gun will help the decal to stick even better afterwards

I agree an extra set of hands goes a long way.

Doing it by yourself, I would peel a little back and place it. Then use a credit card to get those bubbles out. Peel a little more back and repeat the process of getting out the bubbles.

I always think it is harder to get the bubbles out once you lay the whole thing down.

I would be too worried about screwing it it up. Check at your local window tinting shop, some do clear bras and could do a better job than I could in a temperature controlled shop.

soapy water and a squeegee - same process as window tint, works like a charm

The soapy water thing.

It's exactly what many shops would do, and of course, they'll charge you for it. Just make sure you get plenty on the decal and your hood. And also make sure it's completely dry before you remove the cover paper.

the soap and water act as a lubricant but will be able to be squeezed out. Oh go slow

Wash the area first with water and Dawn dishwashing soap to remove all the wax.
