Planning for a '16 jk and need advice
I agree about keeping the A/C. I never turn mine on, but the wife does once or twice a year, plus it makes the defrost work better.
If you are not planning on putting in aftermarket audio, have the alpine system installed. I thought the same thing- "how bad could the stock audio be?" - and it's really bad. Most of my money for my new '15 has gone to audio due to the outstandingly crappy base audio system....

I had a premium top on 2013 and now have regular on 2014. Premium top is nice looking, but I think regular top is more durable. Regular top came in with tinted windows, the only thing is regular top is grey inside, where premium is black. In my honest opinion its not worth $400
This reply is a comment on your "knowns", the A/C Delete. I was going to do same, hardly use it, BUT dealer said the lack of AC kills trade in. Plus, on those 90 + days, passengers and dogs do welcome it. The lower purchase price is a savings if you are going to keep it forever, but will be a killer on resale or trade.
I would also suggest hardtop, full doors for cold , salt winters. Soft tops , of every variety, are inexpensive ; plus, there is a new "Hybrid" soft top out, it's in the Quadratec website, " Trektop Pro" . Having the Factory Hardtop gives the wiring harness, wiper, defroster that is otherwise an extra $ 200 + -. The security and easy acess to vehicle with hardtop a plus, in my opinion.
In any case, planning a new Jeep is such fun!

Not necessarily. If the weather is nice you take them off. If it's ugly out you use a zipper to open your window. They are the holy grail of Jeep owners but maybe highly overrated. My soft windows for the top are scratched to hell and faded. Think about looking through them all day.

Had half doors on my tj for 7 years, I thought I would miss them.... I don't. Keeping salt spray off soft windows is a massive pita. Sun glare and salt spray equals no vision. Also, you can't use the soft window in cold weather or it will crack. Replaced mine a few times. Toll booths, atms, drive thru windows, all a pita in the winter. Think about that.
Am I the only one wondering why you want to trade in your 13 for a 16? No changes and you want to downgrade? And seeing as your already trading in your Jeep now, seems like you might want to think about that AC option if you ever want to trade in again. Not worth how much money you will lose if and when you decide to trade or sell.
Good evening there Devil Dog! Im from the Grand Rapids area originally, and even the winters down there i wouldn't want to have half doors because of all the reasons people have already mentioned with the salt spray and all that. Why not keep the AC? Its like 4WD for most people...you may not use it often, but its nice to have when you need it. For example, what happens if its hot AND raining? I would also agree with some of the other people saying why upgrade from a 13-16, unless you're going from a sport to a rubi for example, since there aren't really any major changes that im aware of that have been made, certainly not from sport model to sport model.
