ok heres the sit.

i ordered my jk-unlimited a month a go. it was a:
RUBICON Blk
6-speed manual
soft top
auto pkg.

now the dealer is telling me that rubicon are going to take a long time.

however he is offering a:
Sahara Blk
6-speed manual
soft top
auto pkg.

what should i do??? which one should i get???? and what are the major diffs.

PLEASE ME AND MY WIFE ARE GOING NUTS.

ps: i am a real newbie. coming over from the jdm sports imports.

Are you going to take this thing off road, or not? If you are planning off-road excursions (not a trip down a dirt road, but real trail runs, overcoming obsticles, working on a ranch, etc), then wait for the Rubi.

If you are NOT going to off-road the vehicle much, then these are the questions to ask: Does it have a D44 rear axle? with 4.10 gears? Is it 4WD? Does it have all or most of the other options you wanted? If all of the above are "yes" then go for it.

This is just one man's opinion.

sorry its a 4x4 both of them.

however i dont know if i am going off roading...wanted to get in to things like that since all i do is drink on the weekend. (got old quick)

is the sahara comparable if it does have the 4.10 gears and the d44 rear axle?


i just want to make sure that the sahara will do what a rubi can with the upgrades in the gears and axle.

The Sahara and X are VERY capable at offroading. Not crawling over gigantic boulders, but doing everything else. Unless you're going to become an extreme bouldercrawling type like in those pics with two wheels in midair at all times and the doors scraping the floor, then get the Sahara!!!!! Doesn't sound like you need a Rubicon, and if it's killing you, pull the trigger !

The Sahara has tinted windows only, which would be a dealbreaker for me.

The Sahara is Very capable offroad, and would probably be fine for you for a few years. If you really get into wheelin, then you can make upgrades as needed.

The Rubicon has been (accurately) described as the Most capable stock 4x4 ever. That said it will probably do most of what you will get into now. If you get serious about wheeling, you may still need to upgrade quite a bit.

The Rubicon is a great springboard to build on if ou plan on taking your time. The Sahara is also a great springboard, but you will run into limitations a little sooner than you will with the Rubicon.

If you're a moderate wheeler, the Rubicon may be all you ever need, but the Sahara would just need a few upgrades to be all you ever need.

If you just plan on taking it on the beach or on dirt trails, the Sahara would be fine.

Get what you want, but don't let the wait dissuade you from the Rubicon. They are worth the wait. And, there are several trickling out to dealers, so you may be able to find one if youo aren't too picky with options. If you decide to get a Sahara, don't ease up on your requirements and choices because you can find them pretty easily.

think, I'm a gonna wait for the Rubicon....

like "Phishjeep" rubicons are known as the best stock 4x4's and dunno if i'll have the $$$ for upgrade til later on...Jeep Wrangler are pretty exspensive.
