Default Popping or binding in front end

When it rains or when I have washed my JK, my front end pops and thumps when turning left and right. Like something is binding in steering? Any ideas?? It doesn't make any noise nor do I feel the thump when it's dry. Was putting off taking it in but now I am. Just wanted to ask if anyone knows what it is???

I am curious also... While wheeling the other night , for the first time I felt and heard a popping type noise from the front end. Once off the trail I tested while in 4lo and found that when full left/right it would pop and I felt the driveline bind up. Sounds like possible coming from the front driveshaft/transfer case joint area but not sure....

When it rains I get a clunk sound when I let off of the gas pedal, sounds like some kind of driveline issue but I have no clue???
I just mentioned it because of the OP's comment about only happening when the Jeep is wet.

Make sure your coil springs are seated properly; re-torque trackbar, swaybar links, and control arms.

Also, check grease on sway bar links. (if greasable)

If you have quick disconnects it could be those. If not those, have someone turn the wheel back and forth while you look at the front track bar.

When I first installed my lift the aftermarket front track bar loosened up and it made the clunking noise. Just recently, after a rain, I found that my front left disconnect is making all kinds of noise. I plan on removing the pin and replacing it with a wing nut to tighten it down and make it shut up.

Good luck.

Do not use 4wd on a paved surface. The wrangler has a part time system for off road use only. The tires need to be able to slip to compensate for rotating at different speeds when turning. This is not an all wheel drive vehicle with a center differential. Please refer to you owners manual in the off road section.

FYI/Update: I put the wingnuts on my front disconnects and discovered/tightened one loose rear disconnect last night. The drive in this morning was quiet.

Did you find out what was making noise on yours?

Can't find the source of the noise, is there a common piece in the transfer case that fails, or chains loosening...
