Default Powder coating question

A co-worker of mine does a bit of powder coating and offered to prep and coat my wheels for $20 each. He said it was up to me whether I wanted the whole wheel done or just the face. I would prefer to have the whole wheel done, but is there any reason why I should only do the face and leave the rest alone? Thanks.

Do the whole wheel, it will look better. i dod the whole wheel and iam happy since the inside of the wheel shows and it wouldnt look that good if the outside is black and the inside is stock.

I was going to powdercoat Sahara wheels. I wanted to just do the machined part in black and leave the painted part the way it comes stock. I was told there's alot more prep to do it that way. I ended up deciding to go with different wheels altogether so I am going to sell the Sahara rims...

Wouldn't the powder coat scratch off when you mount the tires back? I want black rims but I am affraid they will get scratched when mounting the tires.

I wouldn't think so. I've never had a rim get scratched by mounting tires.

Powder coat it pretty tough. Most new tire machines only touch the wheel inside of the lip and they don't scratch the edge. I've had tires mounted on powder coated rims and they mounted pretty good. Hard to scratch with everyday use.
