Default Power Steering

few weeks ago dealer topped up all the fluids including power steering. Now the pump started screaming not loud but i can hear it especially indoor car parks.

The fluid color is red

in the mmanual its says ATF +4 which is clear color.

Any suggestions on what to do any tips for flushing the fluid and replacing with mopar atf +4

i am running 35" tires. also has anyone upgraded with PSC power steering.

I would fully flush the system with ATF 4 as quickly as you can. If straight Dextron was used along with the AFT 4, you are in for problems. Dextron does not have the lubricity of ATF 4. Remove the return line to the pump and have someone either start the engine and someone keep filling the resorvoir until you get all of the stuff out. Be sure and turn the wheels from lock to lock while purging the system.

Dextron is high in detergent, which can deteriorate rubber seals that are not compatible, too.

ATF +4 is red. Where did you get some that wasn't red? That might be your problem.

It would be unusual for your pump to be needing ''topping off'' unless you had a visible leak somewhere in the system. All vehicle systems when operating above idle speed are quite noisy. When inside any enclosed area such as a parking garage all sounds are amplified, making it sound like you have a problem when in fact nothing is wrong. ATF+4 is RED in color, not clear. It would be odd for a chrysler dealer to put dexron in your system. You just wouldn't find dexron lying around. Most dealers out here buy their tranny fluid in bulk, and it is despensed as needed for purposes of inventory control. Remember when the wheels are turned the duty cycle load of the pump is vastly increased, increasing the noise level very noticably in an enclosed area. You can drain the system as described above, make sure you bleed the system before topping it off. Fill the resivior not quite to full, start the jeep and at idle slowly turn the steering wheel lock to lock- 10 or 12 times. Don't hold it at lock because you could blow a seal . The fluid will look milky in the resivoir, don't worry about it, it's air from the system . Top it off at the proper mark and you are good to go....Good Luck!!!
