Why would you do that to your Jeep?

I was taught 30 seconds at full lock = damage. I try to never hit full lock for more than a few seconds.

Try the term "Kiss my ass", anyways, You are right not the smartest thing to do. Power steering pump is shot. The service writer is a friend, new pump on order. I didn't realize the pump was so fragile. I don't plan on doing it again. As far as tred lightly. This is an abandon construction site, about 20 acres of junk cars, stoves and such.

ah hell, you know, live and learn.

This is from the Haynes Manual, for older full size Fords:

CAUTION: DO NOT hold the steering wheel against either stop (extreme left or right turn) for more than five seconds. If you do, the power steering pump could be damaged.

I'm just putting it in here so others will know of the potential damage that could be caused by holding the wheels into a full lock. And that it is not a "Jeep specific" defect.

Like I said. It was fun at the time. I didn't know that it would burn up. I also didn't know you couldn't shift going through water and had done that many times before. Yes, live and learn.
