Default Power steering issue

I just went out for a noce drive in the desert and the power steering went out, it has zero assist at idle and then it starts working again when you bump up the RPM's.

WTF??

I started to get the same problem after muddin. Nothing then it kicks in. Thought cleaning under the hood "fixed" it, but its starting again. My main concern is that its lifted and the 35" Toyo tires are really heavy. If it gets worse I'll take it in, but doubt the dealer is going to cover it.

So I took it in to the dealership. They checked with Chrysler and Chrysler decided that since I have a 2 in buget boost lift and 33 in tires they have to VIOD MY WARANTY!!!!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!?????? they told the service department that the waranty on the entire vehicle is VIOD!

So when I bought the Jeep I went to the service department and talked with the service manager, I asked him at that time about lifting the vehicle. He told me then that if I only lift it 2 in then everything will be fine and there will be no waranty isues. But now I am screwed if something else breaks.

So now I get to call Chysler and try and get someone that acctually knows about mechanical things on the phone and get a good explaation as to how my 2 in lift made the power steering pump go out.

Sort of sounds like the dealers are f...ked in the head when it comes to geometrical mods but also a good reason to wait till the warrantee is up before going about installing them.
No problems=no worries
Problems=?

I had this happen when i went to canada and did some trail riding... it was the power steering pump that crapped out. Went to a jeep dealer, spend like 200 bucks, and submitted everything to chrysler america when i got home, took months to get reimbursed. But it was covered under warranty. Take it to your dealer and they'll fix it for you. good luck

they aren't allowed to do that. They can do a vehicle warrantly restriction which means they flag it in the computer and therefor have to get approval for warranty work after that. DEMAND! to speak to the area rep. they usually come in once a month and should be able to work something out with you.

Might cost him more to fight for the right than it's worth by the time they drag it all out.
They're already pulling the mods thing on him and he hasn't even started.
It's a pretty cheap repair for a good mechanic.
