Default Problems towing with Roadnaster brackets.

The roadmaster brackets mdl 1429-1 may or may not work. They tech support blames it on Jeep. No satisfaction.

The brackets can work if welded on, but only one of the holes actually lines up. They said "just drill holes", lol, well so much for a bolt on installation. Problem with drilling holes is you end up with a huge overlapping hole that will allow a lot of wiggling with the result that it will eventually come loose. Should an accident happen I am sure they would disavow ever suggesting such a thing expecially since their instructions read, "Installer, use everything supplied"

Welding is not an option for me since I will want to install an aftermarket bumper later on. Although, if I cannot mod a Currie bracket to work I will of course be getting that bumper NOW since I go on vacation in about three weeks and I simply have to get it all set up for towing immediately. I am working a lot of OT for now, right up till I leave. It does not give me any wiggle room for messing around.

Any short term idea's appreciated.

I assume you have a stock bumper , for me I went and ordered the mopar off road winch bumper , I needed the bull bar to suspend the tow bar and the winch when connecting to the ball ( getting to old to tug a tow bar) the only headache was the correct trimming of the splash shield. The roadmaster adapter was 1430-1 and that was an easy install

Yes, I saw that one, and it looked like there would be no problem using it, but I have a stock bumper so I could not use that bracket. :(

I have the falcon 2 which folds up on the towing vehicle, keeping the jeep clean when driving around. I'm considering an AEV tonight, but will check and see what a local welder can do with their supplied towing bracket.
