Default Question?

Will an aftermarket CAI and exhaust void the warranty on my 2012 JK? I've been told unless I use genuine mopar parts to mod the JK it will void my warranty. Using this forum I've decided to go with the air raid CAI and either Gibson exhaust or Dynomax.

No

"The Magnuson-Moss Warranty – Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act of 1975 protects consumers from such fraudulent activity by new car dealers. Under this Act, aftermarket equipment that improves performance does not void a vehicle manufacturer’s original warranty, unless the warranty clearly states the addition of aftermarket equipment automatically voids your vehicle’s warranty or if it can be proven that the aftermarket device is the direct cause of the failure. The easiest way to check this is to look in your owner’s manual under, “what is not covered”. Under Magnusson-Moss Act a dealer must prove, not just vocalize, that aftermarket equipment caused the need for repairs before they can deny warranty coverage. If they cannot prove such a claim or offer an explanation, it is your legal right to demand compliance with the warranty. The Federal Trade Commission (202 326-3128) administers the Magnusson-Moss Act and monitors compliance with warranty law."

Thank you guys. On an earlier thread someone told me to worry about making my engine breathe better and that's the first two mods in a list of mods.

As long as it doesnt require a tune you're good. If it does than it MIGHT void it. All depends on the dealership and how cool they are with mods.

My warranty states that any modification that isn't genuine Chrysler/mopar part then it is not covered under warranty, but it will not void my warranty. This place seems pretty cool with mods, they get a lot of the call of duty jeeps and the Rocky Ridge conversions.

Most major manufacturers of after market equipment state right on their equipment/packaging it will not void your factory warranty.

I would give them a call and ask about the parts and see if they're cool with you putting them on. Or better yet, if you close by go in and ask one on one. This way you know for sure if they are.

Thats true, but it doesnt stop Chrysler. I know people that put CAI's on their Mustangs that require no tunes and Ford still blamed it one the CAI and voided the warranty. I can see Chrysler doing the same.
