If you plan to wheel at all, I strongly suggest you carry a spare. Around town, you'll just have to deal with a minor hassle when you have a flat. But off-road, that could be a major pain if you don't have a spare. And off-road is where you're highly likely to damage a tire, necessitating a change. So, if you decide to run around town without a spare, consider doing it so that you can conveniently put the spare back on when wheeling.
Went to Ace Hardware and got a couple of plastic plugs for the holes, they cost like 10-20 cents and you will need 3 (2 for the bumpers and one for the electrical wire hole). You can put the bolts back in the holes because they have plastic washers (don't scratch the paint).
If we are going off road, the 35" spare fits perfectly in the back of our unlimited. We are waiting for our tire carrier
and personally I like the look of the tire on the back of the jeep better, looks meaner, and can't wait to see that Shrockworks box on our front porch

I have run many of set of offroad tires on various vehicles and never (knock on wood) got a flat on the road (except with factory stock tires). But I have needed to change tires 5-6 times offroad.
When offroad, put the spare in the back seat if you have to.
