Default Rattle - help!

There is a rattle in the back of my 07 jk unlimited that I cannot seem to find. It only rattles on rough roads. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could be?

Man...this sounds like one of those...rough road rattles. You know..the kind of rattle you really only get on rough roads...

That is unless theres a Rattler in the back of your Jeep and everytime you hit a bump you piss it off...

Or it could be something else...where's it coming from? Any idea? Front? Back? Left side? Right side?

It's in the back gate near the hinges. I just went out and put a piece of cardboard in between where the rubber meets the gate right under the windshield and its not making the rattle anymore.

This just worries me that the pressure outward will only make the problem worse in the long run.

I had the same problem. I sounded like a rattle, but was really the gasket coming in contact with the metal gate. So, I used silicone on the window gasket, and that helped. Then I tightened the door and added the soft side of Velcro strips to each side of the door where the outer door edges touch the window gasket (the original was only a small felt patch that rubbed off) to apply more pressure. So far, no recurring rattle or squeak. Hope this helps.

Try taping some electrical tape on the swing gate striker? Have you tried snugging up the swing gate closer to the tube by moving the striker towards the front?
