Question rear camera mount

I'm sick of not being able to see when backing up my jk, these things have the worst rear view ever. I actually completely lost a camaro that pulled up behind me at a light, I couldn't see it at all. I need a camera.

Do you have a rear camera? Where is it mounted? pics of it?

I'm thinking in the spare tire, or drill a hole in the bumper would be best?

I put my camera smack dab in the middle of my rear bumper (stock). I took it off and drilled from behind so the hole would be as clean as possible. There is a space of about an inch or so inside, so I had to put some spacers inside to keep it in place. The camera itself did not seperate to look cleaner, so I had do to drill through. The wiring went to the left tail light and I mounted the screen upside down above my mirror. The harness for the screen was made to glue/screw down to "something" i.e. - the dash. I liked the idea of having near my rear view mirror - two birds with one stone.

Great advice from swright1. Other option is an integrated system. There are integrated dash units (multimedia/navigation) from several brands (Pioneer/Sony/Kenwood/others) that provides backup rearview automatically when the reverse is engaged. With this system you can use a wireless camera, that operates from reverse tail lights DC, and provides even night rear view from IR illuminators - and no wires to mess with. The advantage of an integrated system is distance guides on screen and other features (like people/object detection) are available.

Default Rear bumper shell

It was so easy. If I remember, it was only about 4 bolts and off it went.
