Happened to me a couple months ago, just got it all finished being repaired today (mostly wait b/c of holidays etc)

My damage: dented tailgate, broke tire carrier, minimal damage to bumper.

JK-forum member nice enough to give me a tire carrier, not going to replace bumper due to possible future upgrade. Thus, left me $900, so waiting on my new front bumper to arrive any day and have my winch in the garage.

I'm also glad to hear that you're uninjured. Does that pic show all of the JK damage? Everything around your carrier looked good. That impresses me--I just assumed that since I have plastic bumpers that everything surrounding them is also weak .

ya that was the extent of damage hard to believe as you can see it just broke the pot metal tire carrier didn't even bend the tailgate which feels like tin foil the bumper wasn't even touched don't think. put the hurt on the car that hit me i ran back to make sure that the lady was ok heck maybe should mount spare tires all around the jeep like a bumper car the way people drive

Ouch!

You didn't have any damage to your breaks or suspension? I only ask because some time back my car was parked on the street and it got rear ended. Result... I had the emergency brake on and the cable snapped, rear brake shoe broke, bumper shattered into 1000 pieces (Ford Focus), hatch got dented and muffler got bent.

Not sure how fast you were rear ended, but I seemed to have been hit pretty hard at that time. Then the kid drove half way down the street.... parked his car, dumped his weed and then walked up and knocked on my door.

Hope all are ok!!

Glad to hear you're okay.

Taking a hit like that all your damage will be structural with the rear bumper. I got rearended two months ago. No gate or carrier damage, though the extent of the damage was to the hitch, the actual bumper and plastic cover along with a bent exhaust. For me, I've got the insurance money banked as I save for an LoD bumper/tire carrier combo.

Good to hear your alright -- that's the main thing - a vehicle can be replaced but a fellow Jeep Owner can not.

But, I'm smelling a nice new "LOD bumper w/ tire carrier".

Have you taken the tire carrier off to make sure no damage to the gate?

Alot of my damage wasn't noticable until it was removed.
