Cool Recover items look cool !!

So I always thought they looked cool and "geared out". I had to have the hi lift... a winch.... shovel... axe... extinguisher.... and I've only been wheeling for a few months.

Well noobs they are WAY more useful than they look. I've used the saw to clear small trees from the trail.... the shovel today to remove myself from a situation where I had high centered... and almost broke out the extinguisher as my exhaust was starting to smoke the grass stuck underneath me.

The next time a guy gives you crap about all of your gear; you tell 'em IT IS REQUIRED if you want to wheel.

O yeah, I can't wait to use the snatch strap and the winch!

If someone gives you crap for not having recovery gear, they're a douche

I always carry. You never know. And every trip I've been on someone in the group (self included) had needed one thing or the other.

If you want to play in the big boy areas, be a big boy and buy your own gear. Don't be a cheap ass. Naturally those starting out will learn what is needed and what is fluff. Buy a snatch strap an a shackle or two. It's common courtesy to NOT use someone else's strap when YOUR butt got stuck.

Dig it.

Some of these items might also come in handy based on the type of terrain and area you wheel:

Have fun, be safe and use common sense!

Looks like something used to punch a bear ... Suppose its useful for wheeling around here

Any if anyone laughs at you for wheeling with recovery gear ... Karma will come back to them when they wheel alone and realize they are stuck with no tools

Edit: nevermind, looks like it's actually a thin cover with a flashlight on it lol

I usually carry everything, but I will admit I secretly make fun of people that have a hi-lift mounted somewhere, rusty as can be, with no sliders/bumpers/attachment points.

yes I know you can use it as a come along (most of the ones I see do not have this feature anyway) and yes I know you can use the attachment to lift up a tire....but i doubt they use them in that way.

I can't help but think poser and laugh......99% of the time i'm probably right
