Default red lightning bolt of death

Sometimes my jeep decides to throw on the red lightning bolt of death and a check engine light when it gets a little too wet/muddy. It doesnt happen everytime i go mudding which confuses the hell out of me. Last weekend i was in mud up to the doors and nothing happened. then i was turning around in 3 inches of mud and the damn thing kicked on and killed the throttle....which sucks when you have the winch and your buddies are stuck down the trail.

Any ideas? And no, it isn't water in the intake, its always been dry.

Its typically the electronics.

I spray the alternator, wires to the battery, and to all the wires under the hood etc, with silicone spray.

It helps to keep the alternator cleaner, as crud sloughs back out, and it repels water, keeping the connections drier.

Works for me at least.

Auto or manual? Clean the throttle body, TPS sensor. Drive it like you stole it.

and make sure you use the new coversheet for your TPS reports as well. we are tired of seeing the old coversheets here on JK forum!
