Regret 2 door?
I'll be getting a new jeep in a couple of months. Do you think a family of 3 (me, wife, 5 year old daughter) will be ok with a 2 door? I'm thinking of getting a 2 door sport with the s package. I had a wrangler in 97 which was kinda small, but since the redesign a couple years back didn't the new JKs gain a few inches in width and length? Is there any space behind the rear
seat, especially if I get one with the sub? We'll still have our 04' Liberty so we will have a vehicle with extra space when needed. Anybody have a small family and a 2 door?

I have a 07 2 door and a family with small children as well. I simply let the 3 and 6 year old climb over the center console to get in the back seat. The JK is more roomy than my old TJ was for sure. I drove both a 2 and a 4 door before making my purchase, and while I liked the 4 door, I really loved the way the 2 door drove. Seemed much more "Jeep" to me, just my
So, the short reply to this is no, no regrets on the 2 door

I dont regret getting the two for at all but I also have no kids. I actually don't even have the back feet in my JK because theres never more than 2 people in it at a time. To answer your question about room behind the back seat: a two door has almost no room behind the back seat, especially if you have a sub. I know the 4 door has a lot more room for gear even with the back seat in. Hope this helps and good luck!
I have a 4 year old and an 8 year old. I only have a 3/4" spacer lift w/ 33's and my 4 year old really has to climb in. I figure that will be a little trickier with a 2 door since the seats don't fold quite like they did before. (2dr owners need to confirm that though) I had a '00 TJ and loved it, but I'm not sure I'd go back to a 2 door now that I've had the 4 door, unless I had both. I don't always love the break-over angle, but the skids do their job, Lol! Looks-wise, once built both can look awesome!
No regrets at all here. Family of three with a 4 year old. I have a 2010 , but if it helps the 2011 & up passenger seat folds up further for more clearance. Also compared to my old 97TJ there's more rear cargo space. I can actually lose the car seat and stick it in the cargo area when I need more seating for adults. Bit more width too

I don't regret my 2 door one bit. It's my 2nd 2 door I've owned. My jeep is a toy for me though not my DD I have a 4 door sedan I drive everyday and my jeep for mostly on the weekends. I guess it all depends on what your going to do with it is it going to be your DD? If so I would go 4 door more room for your wife and the kid. I don't have kids though and I'm not married "yet" so 90% of the time my back seat is out. Whichever way you go enjoy your new jeep man.
I don't regret mine. It's usually just me running around it most of the time and if my little family (wifey and 1 yr old) comes with occasionally, they do just fine even with the space premium.
I like it best for its trail capabilities. It's small size and light weight makes my JK a lot more nimble compared to a JKU. Tight trees? No problem! Mud pools? A-OK!

I have a 2011 2 door coming from an 08 2 door and I love it!! I very rarely have more than 2 people and a dog in there. The front passenger seat does fold up further than the 08 making it a little easier for people to get in and out of the back. My 08 had side steps but my 11 doesn't for right now. No complaints getting in and out by passengers with the 08 with a 2.5" lift but definitely some complaining on the 11 stock lol If you don't have side steps and will be using the back quite a bit I would highly recommend getting some to make it easier to access. As for room behind the back seat no real complaints here but definitely not much room back there for big items.
