Regular vs premium (first two fill ups)

I just wanted to share what I thought to be interesting. I have fueled up twice thus far, both times running the gauge down until it was exactly at the empty line. Now, my first fill up was regular unleaded which after 505 km's I need to refuel, my second fill up was w/premium (10 x air miles!) and to my surprise, when that needle got to the empty line, my trip A read 601 km's! My driving habits were, and almost always are the exactly the same, so I'm wondering would premium fuel really give me almost 100 km's more than regular would? I mean it did, so I guess I'm really wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing?
And I am loving the forum so far, tks!

You're right, but it's fairly commonly known that ethanol does not have the same potential energy as gasoline...so any ethanol content is going to degrade gas mileage. The point of my thread was more to dispel all the octane related BS. A lot of which is seen in this thread.
Where I live we have a gas station that has all the regular 87 and up and then has 87 octane with no ethanol before gas prices went up more in the past few months non ethanol was only 10 cents more per gallon. So every other fill up I would switch between the two and got better mileage out of the non but it was to be expected but after figuring up the cost of the two and mpg it ended up being the same price so now I just buy the 87 with ethanol but that's only because non went up 20 cents more than regular. In my opinion it all equals out no matter what octane or ethanol vs non. It still burns a hole in your pocket
