Default Roof rack options

I have an unlimited and need more space. Looking at garvin adventure rack and Gobi. I have a Thule Moab basket so that is why I'm looking at the garvin. The garvin will be about 1,000 less. What do you think?

I have the Gobi on my Jeep and love it. It is very solid. I've seen the Garvin racks and wasn't very impressed.

I would go with the Gobi Roof racks.. they are WELL built and very solid. I have one on my 06 LJ and love it. You will not be disappointed by thier products or service!

Not trying to hijack the thread, but since we are talking roof racks. Could someone yell me how high off the top a Gobi sets.

I just want to make sure I could still pull into my garage.

We were also in need of extra space and have thought of a roof rack, but that quickly change due to a higher load center while off road, meaning you have higher likely hood of tipping over.Plan 2 off road trailer

I have the garvin adventure rack, main purpose is just to haul the canoe around. So it is just the full frame rails. I do however plan on buying a basket this month.
It is a solid rack and was easy to install. It also flips back to drop the soft top. I am curious on the clamps of other brand baskets and if they would be compatible as the tubes of the garvin are bigger in diameter.

The Stealth adds 6 inches, can't remember what the Ranger adds. I spent a lot of time checking and re-checking this since I plan on getting the Stealth this summer and do not have much clearance.

Thule guy told me the clamps that come with the Moab basket will work. The tubes on the rack are 1 3/4 dia. And he says that will be fine.

Still haven't decided which rack to go with.

How much space do you need?
I looked at both, in my work parking lot no less... The gobi looks cool, i talked to a guy with the garvin and he said it made some weird noise... Haven't talked to the gobi rack guy yet I decided I didnt need that much room or hit in gas millage so I went with a new bumper with tire carrier and a smitty built off the tire carrier rack. Sorry don't remember theactualy name. When I don't need it it stays in the garage. Another factor for me was the hight, i can load it up easily. Just my 2 cents

I have the wild boar rack on my 2 door. Great rack and no noise. I also like that it tilts back on shocks for taking the top off. But I don't use it much and was thinking about taking it off and selling it. Put the $ towards something I would use more.
