Default Rubicon as a daily driver?

Do any of you guys use a Rubicon as a daily driver and are you happy with it?

I'm trying to justify purchasing a Rubicon over an X however I'm not into rock crawling or intense offroading. Are there any benefits to purchasing the Rubi over the X if I probably won't use its rock crawling features?

Thanks.

I got my Unilinited Rubicon six weeks ago and already have 2400 miles on it. It is a great DD and a real improvement over my XJ (see avatar). Other than the increased cost, there is no downside to it. You will really appreciate it if you ever plan on going off road or in the snow (better stock tires). If you can afford the extra $, get the Rubi. You won't regret it.

If you're not using the rubi for what it was built then why purchase it. Save some cash and buy an x.

Just because he isn't offroading now, it doesn't mean he won't in the future. Jeeps can be that way, especially since he lives in Colorado.

Who says he can't wheel in an x?? The x is extremely capable.

I say get the X over the Rubi. Stupid to pay a lot more for stuff you aren't going to use. Also, if you get a manual tranny Rubi w/ 4.10s it will not get as good highway mileage as an X w/ 3.21 or 3.73s. On the flip side if you plan on putting bigger wheels/tires on then the 4.10s might be better.

You're right, the Rubi is just a little more so right out of the box.

4 Rubi unlimted is great as a DD, love it, would buy another one in a second, no regrets. Lets not forget, a stock X is quite capable right out of the box. Its still a Jeep and more capable than most 4x4 SUVs out there. If you aren't not going to use the Rubi's off roading features (lockers, rock rails, crawling gears, e-discos, shocks, skid plates, etc.., you might consider a X and save some $$$. You can always mod up the X if you start wheeling it more than you expect. Good luck.
