Rugged Ridge Mirror Relocation Brackets Simply Don't Work
The threading on the brackets doesn't match either my factory torx bolts or the bolts supplied in the kit - they bind after a few turns.
Also, the mirrors don't fit completely into the bracket. So there's no way to tighten them down enough that the breakaway feature works.
I just don't understand how a company can put something on the market that doesn't work right.
And shocker, Quadratec's FAQ page says their refund won't include shipping costs. So I have to pay out of my own pocket to have a faulty product supplied to me.

I just think that Rugged Ridge should be ashamed of themselves for supplying a completely broken product, especially since a minute or two of quality control would have relealed that the product, as shipped, is completely worthless.
Alternatively, I find it hard to believe that the product was never fit tested. Therefore, I conclude that they know it's a worthless piece of crap kit, and shipped in anyway.

Is there paint in the threads? It may just be a case of too much paint in threads and the screw is binding against the paint. Granted it is a valid QC complaint, but it happens. A tap should be run through the threaded holes after painting.
well they atleast had to be fit tested once

I received these brackets as an xmas present. When I tried to put them on today I found the same problems.
I re-used the factory Torx bolts to mount the brackets to the windshield post. Solved one problem. The factory Mirror head has a slight conical shape, the new bracket doesn't match this shape, so the mirror head won't fit completely into the socket. A new bolt 1/4 to 3/8 inch longer should solve the problem, but this is not an ideal solution as the mirror head still won't fit completely into the socket.
As much as these brackets cost I would expect a better engineered product.
