rust spots
i know this has been touched on before, but i have a 09 rubicon, ordered in july of last year took delivery in late october and if you look closely it is covered in what i have been told is rail dust, but looks like rust spots, my jeep was built in toledo ohio and i live in pittsburgh, so id be suprized if my jeep was on a railcar but anyway anyone got to the dealer about this, i bought turtle waxes clay bar and tried it this morning and it worked great, but it was alot of work for a jeep i just bought brand new you know? anybody have any thoughts?
The Jeep is supposed to rust in certain places. It's a protective coating to prevent deeper rust from forming. It's a characteristic of 405 grade steel (I think that's the number). The driveshafts are an example of such a place. If the rust is one the body I'd be worried.
The Clay bar is about the easiest way to remove it. I usually do all of our vehicles at least once a year. Its usually worse on the lower body panels. Ive always assumed it was a combo of brake dust and just crap from the roads..
my jeep is white and its everywhere on the paint, even between the rear wheel and the top, as well as in the little dimple in the door handle, its crazy the closer you look when you using the clay bar, maybe more people will realize this as the weather breaks and they start washing and pay more attention
