Sad day
The day finally came where I had to trade in my Jeep to get a.......minivan.
Yes, its true.
Series of events:
Tuesday morning - get to work and my wife calls to me she was in an accident
2hrs later I arrive at the hospital (I work an 1hr 15mins away)
Thankfully everyone is just fine (2yr old son in the back/wife 9 mths pregnant)
Saw the car - totalled (she got hit in the side, not her fault)
Now I realize we can't swing 2 car payments and she can't drive stick
Wednesday - test drive Honda Odyssey and trade in the Jeep (AND it was top down weather)
Now I have to get an old beat-up something. I drive 1/2mile to the bus stop for work.
We're using the insurance money to get something in cash. Probably won't be much (maybe $3K). I want to get an old Jeep. TJ preferably but probably not for that price.
Keep an eye out for me
I'll probably still frequent the boards so I can continue to drool and plan for 5 yrs down the road.

Sorry to hear about that, but heck, even old jeeps are cool!
Out of curiosity, why didn't you get an auto unlimited? I guess jeep is not the safest vehicle to be toting kids, but save for side impact (in which any vehicle you would be in trouble) they are pretty good? She could have driven it during the week, you could have borrowed it for weekends...
And you still could have used the insurance money to buy yourself an old heep. 2 is better than 1!

First...glad the family is good!
Dude....i feel your pain....
I know my wife...wanted a Mini-van....she got me into one to test drive a Caravan with the 2 kids...I drove it 2 blocks....stopped in the intersection and I jumped out started walking back to the dealership...
The wife was freakin out, I told her, I can't do it, no F'ing way am I driving a mini-van. Thankfully, she saw the light and the 4 door Wrangler on the lot and we test drove both the Auto and Manual and she loved the Manual.
The rest is history!
Your Wife didn't want to learn to drive a manual Transmission? Soon enough you will get a new Jeep
