I think the way this scenario plays out is the goal is to get you hot and bothered about this GREAT deal. PRIOR to any borrowed money being involved you are asked to put up an amount of '' good faith'' money so this guy can reject several current interested lookers. The total sales amount was never the goal of this scam, only any money that can be pryed out of an impatient bargain hunter. You showed caution rather than greed-driven impatience so the guy dropped you like a rock.....Remember most scams work because the buyer's GREED for a bargain overcomes their common sense.

personally, all vehicle car scams in the UK seem to involve ESCROW as its not reversible as far as im aware and what i have heard

i would steer well clear and if possible pay by bankers draft or cheque and explain the situation to the bank so that if you do go thru with the purchase and it all goes pear shaped that you can reclaim the monies back thru them.

They guy actually finally sent me an email with a phone number to contact him. Of course it goes straight to voice mail. It gets better. The number he gave me is a cell phone registered to someone in Montebello CA, however, in the ad online, when I click the link on "Get this seller's phone number", it comes up with some number in Brooklyn NY. I can't believe in this day and age, with all the information on scams out there and all the resources available to people, that stuff like this still goes on and people still fall for it.
