Default Scratches

So today being Thanksgiving and all, I travelled home (to Boston). We get here and we pick up my wifes younger brother and sister and some food from her mothers house. I container of squash spills in the back seat (luckily there was a sheet covering the whole back because of the dog). My wife gets out to help me take the sheet out and she puts the platter of food she was carrying ON MY HOOD!!! The platter was wrapped in TINFOIL...then from the back seet I see her moving it around to adjust the foil

Needless to say I have a bunch of hairline scratches on the hood...

I know its a jeep, but ive only had the thing a month or so...

Anyone know any good products to use, other than a good coat of wax...

Also, I remember my TJ's paint was indestructable...I couldn't believe all the sh%^T I hit on trails, and never a scratch...Jeep def cheaped out here!!

you just need some "matching" scratches on the side to even it out- then you won't even notice it

It'll buff out buddy! (and that was the second week of owning my jeep!)

But seriously, it did buff out.

Rubbing compound will take light scratches out pretty easily by hand. The kind I've always used is made by 3m. You can pick it up at napa, or any body shop supply store.

NOVUS Products. in our canvas shop we use novus stages 1-2 and 3 on our strataglass to get out small and big scratches, you rub it in and buff it a bit then wipe clean. it works wonders on some of our customer's glass. and once you do that put a few coats of wax on it to keep that clean shield on her to prevent those little scratchs like that.

2 ideas - Turtle Wax Ice liquid is great. I use the Turtle Wax Ice even on my black fenders. I have never used a wax on textured plastic that just disappeared like this stuff. Bigger scratch -You need McGuire's show car glaze and then use their wax. Should work well for a light scratch like you are describing.

Dude just get some a tub of Meguirs cleaner wax.

I had brutal trail rash that buffed right out with some elbow grease.

Just get it muddy and the wife won't put anything on your hood!
