Default Selling your JK: strip it back to stock or include nice upgrades?

It looks like I will be selling my 2012 Wrangler Rubicon. As I get it ready to sell, should I remove the "cool" parts I've added? Should I swap the original headlights back in (remove the JW Speaker 8700 LEDs), remove the sPOD, remove the LED windshield lights, light brackets, skid plates, running boards, etc.?

Or do I leave it as-is? My thought is that a potential buyer may not like some of the add-ons, or may be turned off by them (e.g., windshield lights, etc.). At the same time, these parts have a lot of value by themselves, and may not make any difference in the sale price.

What do you think? Sell it nicely outfitted, or strip it back to stock?

I think it depends on how long you have to sell it. If by selling, you mean trading it in at a dealer, then I'd advise you to return the vehicle to stock and try to make money selling the aftermarket stuff on Craigslist (if it's worth it to you, if you have time, etc). A dealer will give you pennies on the dollar or nothing at all for aftermarket mods, in general.

But, if you have a little time on your side, I'd post up the vehicle as-is, modified, and see what you might be able to get for it.

I say list it for a big number with the add-ons. Maybe it'll grab someone's attention who is willing to pay. If that doesn't happen, you can always put it back to stock and sell it that way later.

Aftermarket parts add no value to the general buyer. If you have the stock parts, put the stock parts back on and sell of the aftermarket stuff.

I sold my 2013 freedom edition without the soft top

Buyer preferred a cheaper price without soft top

Now I just need to sell it and get it out of my garage. Lol
