In the shop!!!!
So the 2008 JK Unlimited that I bought in the middle of November has spent the first part of the year in the shop. When I bought it I had the dealership fix a shimmy in the steering wheel and they also fixed a couple recalls that were on it. That only took a couple days and I thought I was good to go. Unfortunately, the jeep began to grind and lose control around corners every now and again. It felt to me like there was something loose in the front wheels. I had to stop fast one time and my brakes locked up repeatedly and I almost didnt get stopped. My wife was with me this time and told me to immediately take it back to the dealership. That was January 3rd. They STILL have it. Apparently my anti-lock brake system is engaging because "they" say that the computer thinks that I am wretching on the wheel and slamming on the brakes. They installed a position sensor valve and thought that would solve the problem. Not so much. It did it to the service manager and he almost wrecked my jeep. They said they were going to call Chrysler and see if they knew why it was doing it. Chrysler is trying to blame it on the tires. I have 325/60/18's on it. Nothing too big in my eyes for sure. It also has a leveling kit on it and they are acting like it is a 6" lift. The latest info I got from the dealership is that they are going to put stock wheels and tires back on it and drive it around. If it doesnt do it then we are "gonna go from there". He told me one option would be to disable the ESP so it wouldnt do it at all.
The problem I have is spending 20k+ on a vehicle that I have to disable safety equipment just to be able to drive!! And who cares if it doesnt do it with stock wheels and tires. I didnt buy a jeep to leave it stock. I dont think Im the first person to ever put a lift on a jeep wrangler....or am I? This must be the Twilight Zone!!!
Anyways, I guess my point to this rant is this:
Have any of you come across this problem in the past?
Does anyone know of a good solution and not just a suitable one in Chryslers eyes?
I must say that the dealership has been awesome through all this. Granted the jeep is still under warranty and they will be reimbursed for any time they spend with it but they gave me a 2011 Grand Cherokee to drive around while mine is in the shop. They have also updated me of everything they were doing to it. Just hope they come to a conclusion soon so I can get out of vehicle limbo.

Wow, sounds like you have a great service department at your dealer. Did you buy the Jeep used? (I know you bought it in Nov and its a 2008 but I ask because it could've been a left over) If it was bought used, could it have been beaten on by the previous owner? Reason I think this is you said the dealer had it in the shop fixing a shimmy problem immediately after you bought it, right from the start that should've been a warning. Did you get a carfax report on it? Check the history if you didn't.
