The paint I would be using is the same as the light covers in the pic. I think it would look mean!

Heh heh....dang it. You guys are siding with the WIFE!!!! 
Oh well, I went ahead a blue painters taped the entire grille but the slots (I needed to touch my slot grilles anyway) and painted over the tape. It's far from perfect but it gives me an idea of how it would look. I will post a pick of what it looks like. Cool thing is I can just remove the tape when I make the final decision.
