Default Should I ditch my spare?

I have owned a jeep in one form or another for about 15 years, and wheeled all of them. I have never had a flat, popped a bead or anything. Why the hell am i lugging around a spare tire? I can think of many other things that I could have used on the trail to get unstuck but did not have room for. Am i crazy for thinking that the space on the back might be better suited for carrying other things? I.e. a rack with mats, chainsaw, scuba bottles, etc.

I wouldn't risk it. The one time you don't have a spare is when you'll need one.

I've had my JK a little over a year and have popped a bead off road, been with people that got flats, and got one flat on the highway 200 miles from home.

I carry a spare, can't think of why not to. Because as soon as I take it off, I'll need it...thats how stuff like that works lol

...ever heard of a funny thing called Murphy's Law? You do realize the first time you leave it at home you're going to get a flat in the middle of nowhere right

Good question. I too, never had a flat tire. Bigger MT and even AT tires are less prone to flat - if not doing hard rock crawling, maybe a spare isn't indispensable all the time.

If you look at most Jeeps of all the things removed, rarely is the spare.

I say get rid of it and start counting the minutes until you need it. Then you will be stuck without it and wished you still had it.

Hey I dated Murphy Laws' daughter, seemed like anything that could go wrong with that relationship did.
