Default Should I trade in my Charger SE with a new 2008 Sahara Unlimited?

Hello everyone!

Well I love jeeps since my dad owned a 1991 Cherokee Limited and it was also the first car I drove, in 2006 I bought my first car which is a dodge charger SE and honestly I wasn't convinced because I wanted a Wrangler but my dad was against getting a jeep with 2 doors, my charger has LOTS of mods now (22" Rims and a bodykit and engine mods), after the new JK was released with 4 doors I fell in love with it, my question is guys, should I go for the new JK Unlimited Sahara (Rescue Green color!)?

I'm going for a 2008 model because Rescue Green isn't available in the 2009 models, can someone please tell me whats the difference between the 08 and the 09 models please?

Thanks in advance

theres not enough differences in the 08 to 09 to worry about, The only one that stands out is the hill assist on the 09.

Most other things are small cosmetics

Hill assist is a "feature" that applies the brakes for a few seconds when the jeep senses itself stopped on a hill. You don't really need it. When I'm stopped on a pretty steep hill and let off the brakes the Jeep just sits there. Step on the gas and take off with no rollback. I could take it or leave it.

It's advantage is off road. Nice when on an incline.

It sucks on road IMO. Maybe nice if you have never owned a stick before.

I would go to the dealership and get close to signing the papers then back away. They will more than likely let you take it home for the night (I say that because the last two vehicles we bought we had home for a day before we signed the dotted line). Drive it around and see what you like about being a Jeeper.
I am not trying to talk you out of buying a Jeep. This is my 4th Wrangler and they get better everytime I get one. But, several people that buy them without owning previous Jeeps will be turned off by the ride, noise, leaks (possible sometimes) yada yada yada. Again, not trying to convince you not to, but take it for a day and get the feel for it. Im sure you'll love it!

I don't even have to read your post. All I needed to see was the title.

Like Nike bro, JUST DO IT

edit: ok I read it. My previous statement stands. Aside from removing any lagging doubt by doing as suggested above, go for it. And no, as stated there are no major changes from 08 to 09.

You will get hit hard for trade in, I was disappointed on the Value they would give me on my 06 Inferno Red Dodge Magnum R/T AWD. I decided to sell privately but did not make much up on selling it private...more headaches!

Just be prepared for a huge hit on your charger especially only having the 2.7L V6. If you had a R/T, R/T AWD, Road & Track, Daytona or SRT8 version then it would be another story then you may get a better trade-in. If you do want to trade in I would try to sell your 22's and other engine mods separately as the Dealer will hose you on that.

Great choice in color love the Rescue Green, there really is not much difference in the two years....the only ones that come to mind is the front Freedom Top panel has an additional latch to the windshield in the middle.

You won't look back with the trade in of your Charger....I really don't miss my Magnum R/T much...but would have loved to have keep it for 20-25 years since they dropped the Magnum back in June 08. You will get way more fun with the JK unlimited especially driving doorless and topless!!! But your pockets will empty faster for Mods compared to your Charger.

Thanks alot guys!

Well my charger is a 3.5 V6, I'm taking it tomorrow to my dealer because they want to check it inside the service center before quoting me a price

My dad owns a 2007 Commander Overland, he doesn't use it alot these days but I do! I love driving it and I love JEEPs!

I have lots of mods for the JK in mind, I just hope things work out with my dealer, I just got the chassis number for the JK Sahara Unlimited 4X4 color is (Onyx Green) which is Rescue Green I guess...? I didn't know that it comes with a built in GPS and Navigation system, this made me more excited about trading it in

Wish me luck guys! If things went ok....I will also need your help on the MODS
