Should i Upgrade my stock JK for the jamboree?
Just bought a jeep JKU 4dr unlimited sport. It has the basic 31-32" wrangler wheels and tires 255 75R17. I'm looking to go to the jeep jamboree event in the northwoods of Wisconsin with my dad this July. Can my stock JK handle some or most of those trails? If yes how well and if no what should I upgrade and why?
Don't be deceived by all the people lifting their Jeep and putting bigger tries. The JK in stock form is very capable and probably will do all you will want to do. Most just put all that stuff on for show as it is. No clue what kind of "trails" they are going to have at your local Jamboree, but most will have some stock trails/rides to help a novice. But if you want to have some off road fun I would first suggest looking to getting some better tries. I DD my JK mainly on the highway each day, so I run the stock tires you currently have. But I also found a set of Rubicon wheels and tires on Craigslist local for pretty cheap that I will put on when I want to have fun off road. Only takes about 15 minutes to swap the wheels and when I am not using them, just throw them in my garage.
Next thing look to upgrade the the under body protection and of course, get some recovery gear. Might not need a winch yet, but just make sure you have a good recovery straps and gear with you at all times.

LOL no problem. Don't get me wrong, lifted Jeeps look great, but most of the time it is just for looks, not purpose.
And the best advise I have ever got, all Jeeps come with a reverse. Get into something you Jeep can't handle, you can put it in reverse and get out.

I've seen stock Jeeps with 29" tires go up the same hills as the modded Jeeps. It's all about the line you choose. There are going to be times when added clearance is needed. I've got a two inch spacer lift and I was glad to have it on some of the trails I've been on.
With the right line, and the driving willing to push it a little, its amazing what a stock jeep can do. Only thing they had done to it was swaybar disconnects and some rocker guards. He did get a little banged up on his crossmember on the rocks, but overall it took it very well. the guides we had with us on the trails that day at what would have been coal mountain jamboree but we went at a later date.
