Side mirror on passenger side?

Side mirror on passenger side?
Getting ready to pull the top and doors off. For California, you have to 2 mirrors, one rear view mirror and one on the driver side. Just wondering if anyone's been hassled for having one on the passenger side instead?

I think the law is, must have driver side. Then either a passenger or a rear view. Thats what a cop once told me, but who knows now.
