Default Side step install...

Hey guys,

I recently purchased side steps from member here. Upon installing I couldn't thread 4 of the front 6 body mounts. It appears to be missing the body nuts in the front 2 mounts on both sides and the screw just turns loosely when inserted into hole. The rear mount on both sides was able to screw right into with no problem. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what is the best way to correct this as there is little room to place a wrench inside the body? I searched around but couldn't find an answer. Hopefully someone can help!

Thanks

i have the mopar side steps and when u get them from the dealer they come with a clips that slips into those square hole and in the middle of the clip is the nut so u dont need to use two wrenches to tighten them. i think thats what your talking about ill try to help more if im on the right track.

Are they factory side steps or aftermarket? There is no difference between rock rails and steps. Are they on the correct side ( backwards)And right loctaion ? Had to ask. Are the bolts the right length? With aftermarket steps maybe the mounting tabs could be thicker.

They are the factory mopar ones and this is exactly what I am missing. I wondered only because the rear bolt screwed directly into the body on both sides w/o any type of clip. Thanks...I will stop by the dealer and pick four of them up....hopefully they will stock them.

doubtful, they are a "non service" item. But maybe they just have a bunch of them in a big box

They are typical fender clip style bolts ... any auto parts store should have them.

you can pick them up at a hardware store as well - I went round and round with the dealer on "non-serviced" items when I purchased rock rails without hardware from another member. Ending up getting everything I needed from the local hardware store.
