Side Step rails on Rubicon
Does anyone know if the rock rails can easily be removed from the 2012 rubicon and be directly replaced(bolt-on) with the mopar side step rails like on the sahara?
I need side steps on the jeep without a doubt, wifey would need a ladder to get in! I don't really like the looks of the optional aftermarket rails neither.

The Jeep Rubicon costs more primarily because there are changes in it that improve its performance off-road. This is unlike most vehicles, where the "top-of-the-line" model is designed to go faster or be more luxurious. The Sahara side steps are not compatible with off-road performance. If I was in the situation where I had to provide for someone shorter to get into my Jeep Rubi (I own an X, BTW), I'd opt for one of the after-market rock rails that double as sidesteps. If I didn't like the appearance for some reason, I'd find comfort in the fact that at least I was doing something consistent with the intended purpose of the vehicle. But, hey, it is your vehicle--do as you will. That's JMHO.
I agree on sacrificing rocker protection is a bad idea unless you aren't doing wheeling where you will need them. In that case you should just buy a sport with steps and save yourself alot of money.
