Default Which Size Tires HELP...

Guys Gals
I need help deciding which size tire to buy... heres the deal ...

2007 JK Unlimited jeep Green Sahara 4.10 / 6Speed

16" AR Mojave Teflon black on order
OME HD 2" (in Basement )Lift which seems to give 3+"

I have decided on BFG TA KO but not sure if I should go

295/75 16 = 11.5 x 33.2
or
315/75 16 = 12.2 x 34.6

I will be adding bumpers front and back and possible a Garvin wilderness rack in the future just not now.

It is important that I still be able to tow my trailer 3240LBS ....

OPINIONS PLEASE...

If you want to tow that trailer with out regearing i would go with the smaller ones as i believe that is you go with the 34" tires and tow you will not have enought power to make large hills or small mountains.

Just a girls 2 cents worth

I was under the impression that the power loss from 33 - 35 is minimal, do you tow?

I towed our 13' Camper approx 30 miles and won't do it again. The JK is not a tow rig, I will pull our sleds this winter on our trailer (maybe 2,000 lbs) but nothing with any wind drag. The JK is bad enough, towing is worse!

Your only reason not to go bigger is power loss and wallet size, IMHO

I don't know anything about towing but where did you find the 16" AR Mojave Teflon black with 5 x 5 bolt pattern?

Yes the power loss is minimal going to slightly bigger tires BUT when it comes to towing its a HUGE differance.

I do tow, not with the jepp but with my 04' 2wd 3.7 V-6 5sp and during the summer i tow hot tubs just fine (I do hot tub repiar and delivery for living) and during the winter with lightly taller winter tires on its no where as easy and have to use lower gear and slower speed and also listen to the engine whine out lots while going over the cascades.

Too_man,
If your 13 foot is something like a Boler or Scamp, it should weight less than 1,500 pounds. I was thinking of a 16-17' Scamp, Casita, etc. that should be less than 2000 pounds. This is 1,500 pounds under the limit. I'm surprised you have problems. However, the manual does say limit the frontal area of the trailer to something like 32 square feet (aka, use a tent trailer).
