Default Smittybuilt windshield brackets need an improved design.

Bought the brackets and installed them today. The brackets locate the lights so low on the windshield that the bolts for the lights were too long? After trimming the bolts I installed the antenna bracket. I guess if you want your antenna to be bent forward a couple of inches these are great but not for me. After a couple of 45 bends the antenna has now been bent around the light. Buyer beware of this part...

Bad rainy dark pick but here's the issue. Light bolts were too long and had to be cut about a half inch to clear.

I just installed a set of Rigid Dually LED lights that had this mounting bracket in the kit. I replaced the carriage bolts that came with the kit to ones that were 1/4" shorter. There was clearance between the bolt and the hood but I moved the lights in towards the Jeep more (the harness seemed to be a little short). This also moved the bracket for the antenna in so on mine it didn't push the antenna out as much. I do think a slight redesign would be in order. I would like to see the base the lights are mounted on moved up slightly.

Get a stubby antenna and all will be well in the world again

I'm thinking those brackets might be installed incorrectly or reversed. The lights should sit higher up the windshield instead of closer to the cowl.

Can anyone chime in and confirm this?

Sideways picture but there is only one way to install? Couldn't turn the picture? They actually sit low enough that there's no view obstruction. Couple of bends and the antenna is fine.

That looks upside down from all the windshield brackets I've seen

I do like the idea of a lower mounting point.
