Default Snorkel facing which way?

I have seen a few drowned land cruisers travelling through water which then splashed up over the bonnet and into the air intake in the snorkel! I half wonder if I should turn the intake towards the rear when doing this kind of driving in my JK, as the water does cascade over the bonnet and up the windscreen at times.... Any comment, experiences?

The other thing is I fitted black bear mud terrain tyres and they are bloody awesome.... 👍😎

Which snorkel are you running? I've seen the rear facing ones more in use in dusty conditions so you're not funneling dust down the tube.

Drive more slowly: No wake. Ensure that the snorkel is fully sealed. "Safari" is made by ARB. I just installed one on my Gladiator. On both the Gladiator and JK, there are holes in the OEM air box that should be sealed. Some folks may skip that, allowing a path for water to get sucked into the engine.

Video of crossing the Mojave River last year (skip to 10:30 if not forwarded) ...

I always wonder how people gauge the depth of a water crossing Mark. I now see the wading method! I guess there is no easy way about it....someone has to sacrifice getting wet.

Mark! I didn't catch that you've added another to your stable. Will this Gladiator replace your old faithful on your outings?

Supplement, not supplant. It already has been on a couple outings. Here are the teasers ...
