Snow...help
we are having a storm here in newfoundland 40+cm so far and its still snowing. i was out driving around pulling people out for something to do, and when i was driving in deep snow i was getting some what i thought to be wheel hop, in 4wd and 2wd. know what it is? good?bad? i have a 2009 2dr 6 speed manual. in the 16" rims thanks
If you were driving in deep snow, and it felt like you were experiencing wheel hop...then you were probably experiencing wheel hop.
It does happen, especially when you start getting into the deep stuff.
I was out for a good three or four hours last night pulling people out of snow drifts. One of the fun things about Alberta is that when a storm rolls in, we don't need all that much snow to fall in order to get some really stupid levels of drifting. There's not much here to break the wind, so eight to twelve inches of snow can result in some places having nine foot drifts.
Yeah, I saw a bit of wheel hop sometimes while busting through drifts last night.

What the hell is wheel hop ?
I'm actually quite surprised to hear that a JK would have wheel hop. Its usually prevelant in older leaf sprung high powered cars (i.e. muscle cars).
I have the 16 inch steel wheels and have experienced wheel hop while out in deep snow, but also had it on the road after wheeling in the snow, found that a lot of ice had built up on the rims, very poor design. thawed it out and off we went again.
