$20,000 + DOLLARS and the $700 top is a deal breaker?

I don't understand that.

It's not like the top is worthless....... man dude buy the rig and keep the top, or trade it, or swap it, or sell it........ Jeez.

x2 I can have the Freedom panels off faster than I could put the soft top down on my YJ.

My dream Jeep had a hard top on it from the factory. The dealer swapped mine out before I took delivery. I told them that that was one of my "must haves" in the jeep. If you're ready to buy, and will do so then and there, they will usually bend over backwards for you. In my experience, anyway.

Maybe I should give you all my wife's phone number so you can talk to her.

I have gotten this far much faster than I thought I would, or really should have, but there is still some things I need to work out. Keeping the payments down is one of them. The Jeep has a hard top and Sirius so that is close to a $1000.

I think we should talk about a little longer because I'm sure it will be gone before you even start dealing. GO get the jeep and start talking it's almost perfect. Tell them the Hard top is overkill and you do not want it. Find out their position on the issue before it's gone!!!

Tell them it put's you out of your budget!!! That always get's there attention.

I talked to my dealer over the weekend. He said he would switch tops for me, but he would not deduct it from the price of the Jeep. Something about the man hours needed to switch the top from another vehicle. I just laughed at him and said maybe we would talk later.

His plan, I'm sure, is to sell me the jeep including the $612 (invoice price) for the hard top then turn around and up the price of other vehicle that will now have a hard top $695 (MSRP).

This won't happen. He will either make me the deal I expect or I will go somewhere else (the Jeep is at another dealer and would have to be traded either way).

OF course this is all contingent on me selling my Vespa. Wife has yet to budge on this one.

It is an Italian Scooter. 150 cc capable of about 65 mph and gets 45-50 mpg.

Super fun, but not as fun as a Jeep. The money I will get for the Vespa will be used as a down payment.

I don't see why the hard top would be a deal breaker for you if you are getting full doors anyway. AS everyone here has pointed out it is relatrively easy to get the soft top later.

If you were really dedicated to converting to the total open air experience at a whim, you should look to the half doors anyhow. Then you really do have to chose!
