I have spent most of the summer with my hard top on. I recently put my factory soft on and it seems the air conditioner cools the Jeep faster. This may be my imagination but has anyone else experienced this?

 

Seems like the hard top absorbs more heat and stays hotter.

 

I've never owned a hardtop so I cant speak from experience but I'll bet the color of your hardtop would make a very considerable difference.

I know with my soft top, in 100 degree weather, neither of my JKs would stay cool while idling.

 

I do not have AC but I do have a hard top. There is a gap between the inside and outside shells of the hard top so it with acts like it's insulated. I'm willing to bet the hard top stays cooler after the AC has been on for a while.
