Soft top door frames

Hey everyone. Im looking at installing the soft top on my JK for the first time. I have a question about the door frames that come in the box.

Are the door frames only for when the soft top is on?

In the manual it says "Do not drive you vehicle on-pavement with the door frame removed as you lose the protection these structual elements can provide. This procedure is furnished for use during off-road operation only"

Does this mean that I should have it on right now?

Thank you for any feedback

I take mine off when I take the doors off. I think it looks better. I either leave them home or in the back.

I leave mine on. Fills the gap. I think the warning is lawsuit cover your ass crap!

I only take it off when i have the door off. If you take it off with the door on, your door can vibrate pretty bad if you're on a rough back road. Other than that, it's fine

I agree, the manual is full of CYA BS like that. I take mine off whenever the top comes down. They are just plastic, its not like they are going to do anything in an accident except shatter.
